Let's pray as a church community for individual, local, and global concerns and celebrations!
We are experimenting with a web-based newsletter. Please bear with us as we learn to use this method of communication. We understand the text merges a bit into photos on some devices -- this should be corrected by the end of September Address your feedback, thoughts, and suggestions for improvement to Pastor George Cladis at GeorgeC@Highrock.org. Thanks!
This Sunday, September 12, was supposed to be our big re-launch. Well, it is a re-launch, but due to the COVID statistics, it is far more muted than we anticipated. Nonetheless, our in-person worship services (Sundays at 9 am) are inspiring, thanks in large part to Pastor Ryan’s keen abilities and those of our larger Highrock family. Yes, we will miss Kelly Shea – drat! – but we also release her to God’s calling upon her life and we are confident the Lord will bring more worship leaders our way. We will celebrate her time with us this Sunday.
And I have to say how amazed I am at the energy of John Choi, working with Grace Taber, in Kidsrock. I am thankful for those parents who realize time is short with their children and the importance of strong, spiritual grounding. Grace works so hard to create a God-focused program and John is Mr. Energy as her partner, loving on those kids. Kidsrock meets during the 9 am service and combines an indoor-outdoor program for masked kids that includes social distancing.
Sandy Choi easily matches her husband’s energy with SoulFood, now happening after every in-person service at Highrock MetroWest. She has formed four teams to provide food that fuels the after-church fellowship. Some say it actually continues worship with the breaking of bread and the sharing of our lives.
John and Sandy certainly lead important teams, but they are joined by many who serve with them to provide for us an inspiring and meaningful Sunday morning experience -- too many to mention them all here. Thank you all who feel God’s tug to join these teams and be a part of our Sunday morning Highrock MetroWest experience!
This Sunday begins a new sermon series (I LOVED the BLESS series) called CONSTANT. During so much change, Jesus is our constant and he’s given us a set of values that have guided our church movement from the beginning. In this series, these values are identified and shown how they give Highrock a character ready to weather the changes ahead! This Sunday’s value is Honesty.
Pastor Ryan and I look forward to seeing you this Sunday!
Pastor George. GeorgeC@Highrock.org.
A fellow was referred to Highrock MetroWest. He is new to the faith and new to our church. I'm meeting with him by zoom on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 for 45 minutes of Bible Study. Feel free to join us. Zoom link.
On September 5, we returned to Sunday worship at 9 am (our only Sunday morning in-person service).
Launch week refers to an exciting menu of adult discipleship opportunities that match our Highrock values. Each week between now and Sept. 26, we will highlight two or three of them. We strongly encourage all MetroWest Highrockers to take advantage of at least one of these experiences per semester so that you remain growing in Christ! Last week we highlighted The Christian Story, Daily Devotionals, and Highrock Prays. This week:
As the name suggests, Theology Lab is a space for the theologically curious. Participants explore works by Asian American theologians and the more holistic approach of Asian American theology towards discipleship and faith. Guest speakers speak directly from their own experience as Asian American Christians. In keeping with Theology Lab's motto, no background in theology is needed. Just curiosity. Learn more here.
People often make decisions that create isolation between “us” and “them” without intending to! We choose to surround ourselves with people who are like us and share our same beliefs. In her book, Disunity in Christ author Christena Cleveland weaves her own story with well-researched social psychology about group behavior to explain how easily the mentality of “us” vs. “them” becomes ingrained and divides our communities. Whether you have a newborn or are ushering kids off to college, MomsRock is a great place to make connections and share the challenges and the celebrations of parenting. The MomsRock curriculum features stellar content that illuminates the Bible and speaks to topics relevant to moms everywhere. Learn more here.
From our Kidsrock Director, Grace Taber: Kidsrock continues to meet in person during our 9:00 am service for all elementary ages (Kindergarten-5th grade). Safety is a high priority for us! While we are taking covid precautions with masks and limiting large group numbers, we also need to stay on top of properly checking in your child/ren. With that being said, upon arrival, please remember to check in your child/ren using our iPad check-in system. We have been blessed with wonderful weather, so we will continue meeting outside until the cold drives us in! As always, reach out to me (Grace Taber) for any inquiries, questions, or concerns! email@example.com
Kidsrock is looking for more volunteers! For more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have so many resources at Highrock MetroWest Church for pastoral care!! First, our two pastors -- Pastor George and Pastor Ryan -- are available to meet with you (in-person or virtually) when called upon. Pastor George can be reached at GeorgeC@Highrock.org and Pastor Ryan at RyanM@Highrock.org. We also have marvelous Highrock spiritual guides. Learn more here. No one should go without care and love. Just let us know how we can serve you!
Food is "God's love made edible," said theologian Norman Wirzba. Volunteers on the SoulFood Team at Highrock believe this wholeheartedly and take time on Sunday to show care for everyone who walks through our doors by preparing and serving food after service. SoulFood is currently held outdoors after the 9 am worship service. Thank you, Sandy Choi, for organizing our SoulFood Teams!
Hosted by Highrock Online, facilitators from all congregations and ministries are invited to the Virtual Small Group Facilitator Orientation on September 13th and 16th from 8-9:15 (choose one). You will learn that it isn’t about having the right answers but rather a posture of listening and curiosity. Learn more here!
New small groups are forming at Highrock MetroWest. Contact Pastor George at GeorgeC@highrock.org for more information. An introduction to Christianity and to Highrock Church is also starting in October. See more here. Highrock Online offers many ways to grow in your faith.
For Indoor Worship
In light of the recent developments of the Delta Variant and the updated CDC guidance, we have updated our policy to be consistent with the most recent CDC guidelines. At weekend worship services and other in-person indoor Highrock gatherings, we recommend that vaccinated individuals wear a mask. We will continue to require that all unvaccinated individuals wear a mask. When worship leaders are speaking upfront, they will not be masked.
