How to Navigate Highrock MetroWest News

By Pastor George Cladis

If journalism is literature in a hurry, as Matthew Arnold opined, then church news is tornadic!

It can feel like a rush of a mighty wind of words that seem to swirl everywhere and land nowhere! So, I thought I would take a quick moment to write about why we present opportunities in the newsletter to grow.

The goal of church services, events, and programs is to draw us all into a deeper walk with Jesus! That's our fundamental mission and anything else is superfluous. (We could mention other things like reaching out to others with the love of Jesus, but that is all subsumed under walk with Jesus).

The basic thing we do is worship! That's the core, the hub, the center from which everything else flows. Weekly worship is what keeps us strong in the Spirit.

Worship whets our appetite for more. As we experience life around us failing to deliver on its feigned promises, we sense the calling to ground our lives -- and those of our families -- in more of Jesus; something all-encompassing, because therein lies Life.

We start asking more questions and needing more of God.

The small groups, programs, seminars, classes, theology labs, learning communities, and so forth provide opportunities to go deeper. Learn more. Be more grounded. Feel more joy. Experience spiritual grounding.

Not all we do is for everyone! It's not meant to. Scroll down and see what jumps out at you. You can't do everything. You're efficient in your use of time. What here will give you an excellent spiritual return on the investment of your time?

If you're like me, you hesitate to pull the trigger making an investment of your hard-earned cash. It feels like a dollar-bill tug-a-war -- but then decide it is worth doing, and invest!

The same is below. It takes effort to invest in what is really valuable. I am convinced the Highrock MetroWest menu of spiritual opportunities to grow deeper with God is excellent. But God gives you the free will to decide to go deeper...or not. It's up to you.

In the end, I totally believe your time investment will be worth it. If not, I want to know. But my hunch is you'll thank me for nudging you to get engaged and go deeper!

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?  -- Jesus, Mark 8:36.

Lord bless you,
Pastor George
